One of our most talented students, Hannah Rotchell, achieved a little more than she was bargaining for when she took her intermediate ballet exam in July. Not only did she pass with a fantastic 91% Honours, she was also nominated for the IDTA's international performer's award.

Our Examiner, Miss Coghlan, decided to put her forward for the award after seeing Hannah's performance in the Geraldine Fox Theatre Arts Academy exam session, which was held in July at the Goldsmid Hall in Tudeley.

Hannah will now join around 300 other performers from around the world later this year, where she will perform to a panel of judges. We will keep you updated on her progress, but needless to say, we continue to be proud of her. I am sure you will join us in wishing her every congratulations for being nominated.

The results are now available for the July exam sessions, and once again we are extremely proud that our dancers achieved such a high standard. This July we took a total of 330 exams, and all students passed. Of those taking exams which can be graded,

49% gained Honours

40% gained Highly Commended

11% gained Commended

In addition, all those taking Rosette and Star awards Passed.

On 29th May, the "Salsa with Flare" demo team took part in a charity event for the Hospice in the Weald held at Pembury Village Hall, near Tonbridge. We taught over 100 people the basic salsa steps and got them moving with flare and a wiggle, including the men.

As announced at the show yesterday, we are changing our name! We will now be known as the Geraldine Fox Theatre Arts Academy.

Over the last few years, the school has expanded beyond just teaching dancing. It was felt that this new name will encompass much more of what we do, particularly bringing Singing and Acting into the heart of the school.
